These are some of my favorite photos at Oakwood Farm!

This is one of my very favorite photos.

The black mare, Baby, is the dam of Silkie, the grey.  She is 26 years old in this photo and her daughter is 22 years. Baby is actually registered as Supreme Turn and is out of my foundation mare Supreme Golden, (Goldie) who most of our horses trace to. Goldie died when Baby was born and she was raised on a bottle, thus the name 'Baby' stuck.

In Memory of 'Baby'

Supreme Turn April 16 1978 - May 16 2006

My sweet mare Baby left this world May 16th and will always be missed but remains in my heart.  I was fortunate enough to have her with me for 28 years. Rest in peace my sweet girl.

Don’t cry for the horses that life has set free.

A million white horses forever to be.

Don’t cry for the horses now in God’s hand.

They were ours as a gift, but never to keep

As they close their eyes forever to sleep.

Their spirits unbound. On silver wings they fly.

A million white horses against the blue sky.

Look up into heaven; you’ll see them above.

The horses we lost, the horses we loved

Manes and tails flowing they gallop through time.

They were never yours – they were never mine.

Don’t cry for the horses. They’ll be back someday.

When our time is gone, they will show us the way.

Do you hear that soft nicker?  Close to your ear?

Don’t cry for the horses. Love the ones that are here.
